Uploading the Template in Hostgator

posted Aug 31, 2010 02:21:09 by Kevin Johnson
I've tried to upload the template using File Manager in Hostgator and I get an error that the file is too large. Hostgator allows and upload of 25 MB and the template file is 33 MB. Has anyone encountered this and is there a workaround?

I had the same problem. Use Filezilla. Hostgator has a training video on how to use it.
I also had a problem uploading the file via Filezilla, my connection would disconnect after 10 minutes of me not doing anything(besides the upload), I had to keep clicking the refresh button at the top of Filezilla to stay connected and upload the whole file.

Thanks for the feedback Lawrence - I will give it a try.

I am encountering this issue also. The training video indicated a file of 8.21 mb, and the file we are uploading is 33mb. Hostgator is giving a max of 25 mb.

I followed the advice of Lawrence and transferred the site via FileZilla. Search for FileZilla on Google and download the software (it's free). Then go to Hostgator.com and click on Support and go the video tutorials and find the FTP Filezilla videos. They walk you through how to connect to the hostgator server and the file transfer process. It's a little technical (and more work than Bill's video), but just follow along on the videos and it works perfectly.

Question:

In the reseller account, we have to create packages for our hosting so we can get individual cpanels. What is everyone setting their packages?

Thanks,
